Maths & Computing Specialism
In September 2009 Woodcote High School was designated as a High Performing Specialist School by the Government and was awarded a second specialism in Mathematics and Computing. This compliments our initial specialism in Sports very well.
The additional resources were able to be used in a variety of ways:
Helping to increase staffing in the Mathematics Department, especially in Years 10 and 11 to assist students improve achievement in this subject.
To be able to run accelerated Maths classes in all year groups for the most able students.
To be able to offer additional revision classes and master-classes for Gifted and Talented students, including those in local primary schools.
To fit out our new learning media centre with 60 new computers with Broadband access for use by all students within lessons, as well as before and after school.
The success of Woodcote High School has brought us additional funding which we have reinvested in order to improve attainment. A true virtual circle!
