ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CARD COMPETITION HAS CHARITY FOCUS

6th December 2018

It has been a tradition at Woodcote High School for several years now that art students across the school submit designs for the annual Woodcote High School Christmas Card.

This year we decided to link our annual Christmas card with this year’s Christmas Charity.  We are supporting the Purley Food Hub this year which is a local food bank distributing food to  many members of our community who are finding it hard to manage financially for one reason or another. Food banks, such as the Purley Food Hub, are especially busy at Christmas time.

Woodcote High students have been fantastic in donating and we collected boxes full through Mr Abiona, our Head of Philosophy & Ethics of groceries which we donated to the Purley Food Hub at our Christmas Concert.  In addition to this, all the proceeds from the school’s Christmas Concert also went to the Purley Food Hub.

For the 2018 Woodcote High School Christmas Card we wanted to focus on the subject of ‘Giving’ and asked some of our photography students to come up with some original photographs illustrating the true spirit of Christmas; of giving to those who are less fortunate than ourselves. There were some fantastic entries and five were shortlisted. The winning entry was submitted by Callum who is a Year 12 A Level photography student. You can see here some of the wining images and the shortlisted contestants.
